Buist Christmas 2020 Newsletter
Even though 2020 has been a “Bah Humbug” kind of year,
we are thankful for the blessings of health, the good things that remain, and
other joys the year has still managed to bring.
MJ self-published the second book in her “Lone”
series: Lone Choices. It is longer than its prequel, Lone Falcon
and has received some good reviews. It was a great challenge learning formatting,
but she accomplished it and is happy with how it turned out.
Her job at the church continues, she works mainly from
home. She has taught an adult book study continually since April as well as
teaching the children’s Sunday school on Zoom. Our church is still going strong
with video services and providing food to those in need. Many more are in unemployed
due to Covid. (We are near to many furloughed Disneyland workers.) MJ is
grateful that she retired from substituting just in time as jobs have dried up
with online teaching. In her extra time, she has reached her goal of reading
100 books and has taken on crocheting again and has made several projects. She
has inherited eight boxes of yarn from Flora Buist and is working through it.
John is our full-time FedEx Store worker during the
Christmas and the Covid shipping rush. He enjoys cooking and we are spoiled by
the wonderful meals and oh yes – cheesecakes that he makes.
Benjamin is taking a break from school, learning to
drive, and looking for work. His favorite hobby is planning and playing Dungeon
and Dragons.
Don is working on home improvements. We’ve had solar
panels put on our house, have a new washer, along with an outdoor griddle John
and he love to cook on.
2020 was a year of great loss for MJ’s Wennerlind
family. Our mom Shirley died in June. She was so ready for it talking nonstop
about grace and heaven. She went to sleep one night and woke up in heaven. We
also lost my brother Dan’s wife, Peggy, who had a brain aneurysm and died
suddenly. Then my lifelong friend, Ruth Brown lost her husband Randy on Thanksgiving.
We are saddened but look forward to seeing them all in heaven one day.
Though current times can be scary and disheartening,
we choose to rejoice in the blessings including especially our friends and
family. We wish you the advent candles themes of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace
this Christmas season remembering, in whatever happens,
Emmanuel: God is always with us.
Have a MERRIJOYful CHRISTmas,
MJ, Don, John, and Benjamin Buist
